It seems JJ always brings up Ogletree in his press conferences

Ever notice that every time Jerry Jones addresses a WR question, particularly a Roy Williams question, he always ends up talking about Ogletree? In various past interviews Jones has talked about Ogletree’s speed and hands. In his latest interview on The Fan, Jones talks about Ogletree’s exceptional route-running ability.

I hope that we’re about to see Ogletree’s debut against Seattle where he gets significant playing time as a WR. But I have a feeling the coaches are still reluctant. That’s why I want this team to capture a blowout lead early so that the coaches at least have the option of playing Ogletree with minimal risk, as they see it.

It’s time for the kid to play.

Jerry Jones .

Wow, so far I’m shocked. Jerry is preaching not getting too high or too low because it’s such a long season, and saying we have a lot of things to work on. Is this really him?

Cowboys notes for Thursday…09/17/2009

Cowboys notes for Thursday!

Cowboys WR Patrick Crayton on comments made by Giants RB Brandon Jacobs this week. “We respect the Giants but we don’t respect all the pregame chit-chat.”
2:02:37 pm “I would rarther open versus the Giants than the Lions. I want to play them 16 times and see what happens.” – Cowboys WR Patrick Crayton’s feelings on the Giants and the opening of new Cowboys Stadium.
1:59:11 pm “We know what this is all about. It’s usually an ugly game that in the end comes down to the wire.” – Cowboys TE Jason Witten on what he expects from the Giants matchup this week.
1:48:39 pm “I don’t know that we made a mistake. We didn’t sign him, but we sure wanted him. He was an important part of us winning a lot of games the last two years, and we think a lot of him.” – Cowboys coach Wade Phillips on DT Chris Canty, who was signed by the Giants.
Giants defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan said that he is keeping an eye out for the Cowboys two TE formation. Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett had at least two TE’s on the field 30 of 52 plays versus Tampa.
3:57:07 pm Without their own indoor facility, Cowboys coach Wade Phillips had his squad practicing in a steady rain for the first 30 minutes of practice. There were no new injuries to report and QB Tony Romo was able to practice without any problems with his ankle.
2:21:23 pm The last time the Cowboys and Giants met in December, Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett called several screen passes in the game to slow down the Giants rush. Garrett was able to work screens to wideouts, backs and tight ends.

NJ.com: Antonio Pierce looking to fire up former Cowboy Chris Canty as NY Giants get

First, I dont like Big Mouth Brandon Jacobs or Antonio Pierce. What bugs me about Pierce, he says he has Dallas Cowboys friends, imagine that. Then Pierce is always popping off.  So, now what do you think about Canty?

UH Oh, Jerry Jones at it again, going to talk on HBO!09/15/2009

Jerry Jones and Mark Cuban together again on HBO2:08 PM Mon, Sep 14, 2009 | Permalink
Barry Horn/Reporter   <!– Bio  –> E-mail   News tips

The Cowboys owner and Mavericks owner will be guests on the second edition of Joe Buck Live on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 9 pm Dallas time.

Jones and Cuban will join Buck for a round table discussion.

Maybe they’ll announce they are joining forces to buy the Rangers and Stars. Jones could be the king of Arlington, Cuban could be the czar of American Airlines Center.

Other segments will include: Joe Namath, Dan Marino and John Elway, who I am assuming will discuss some aspect of playing quarterback; and Curt Schilling, who will discuss everything in life that he knows more about than the rest of us.

Jason Williams Update on injury, Hodge says he will play next week;08/31/2009

Recent Jason Williams Injury Update

Jason Williams Limping Pretty Good
Posted by jellis at 8/30/2009 1:21 AM CDT on truebluefanclub.com

The Cowboys’ rookie class has had its share of injuries this preseason, with at least two of the draft picks set to go on IR on final cuts. Top pick Jason Williams couldn’t avoid the pain wave Saturday night himself.

On the third quarter touchdown run by San Francisco’s Kory Sheets Williams sprained he ankle. It hurt so bad he couldn’t get off the field before the ensuing extra point try, and two trainers had to hold up the third-rounder when taking him straight to the locker room.

Good news is the X-rays came back negative. Williams has an ugly limp, though, and he will likely have to miss a few days of practice while the swelling goes down.

“It scares you a lot,” Williams said. “The last thing you want to do is have an injury. Luckily when it happened it kind of felt familiar because I’ve done this thing before, so I knew it wasn’t too bad. Initially I was kind of nervous, but luckily it came back negative.”

Williams’ biggest problem may not actually be the ankle.

“I’ve got the dreaded thigh bruise,” he said. “I’ve been dealing with those my whole career.”

In other injured rookie linebacker news (and there seems to be a lot of it this year) sixth-rounder Stephen Hodge (knee) said he will return to practice Tuesday after missing his second preseason game of the summer.

Cowboys sign center, Bennett, Carpenter miss practice…08/26/2009

Cowboys To Add Center Duke Preston
Nick Eatman, truebluefanclub.com

Looks like the Cowboys might have found their backup center. The team is expected to bring in veteran Duke Preston, an experienced backup center who spent the last four years in Buffalo, where he started 20 games, including 11 last year.

Preston signed with the Packers in March but was released on Tuesday. He also has some experience at both guard and tackle, possibly adding some versatility that Cory Procter and Montrae Holland apparently cannot.
Of course, the Cowboys have not officially signed Preston, who will likely have to pass a physical. And remember, there’s always a reason, or three, why a player is on the street. But if he can provide some depth at a few positions, particularly center behind Andre Gurode, that would be a huge boost to the line. Martellus Bennett, Bobby Carpenter miss practice

Tim MacMahon/Blogger, Dallas Morning News

TE Martellus Bennett and LB Bobby Carpenter were the new guys not practicing today.

Bennett was complaining about his tummy aching on Twitter yesterday. Not sure what might be ailing Carpenter.

WR Sam Hurd (quadricep) didn’t practice for the second consecutive day.

DE Marcus Spears returned to practice after sitting out yesterday due to a sore quad.

LB Stephen Hodge, who has struggled to come back from off-season knee surgery, still hasn’t practiced this week. Wade Phillips said Monday that he hoped Hodge would be able to play in Saturday’s preseason game against the 49ers.

QB Stephen McGee (knee), LB Justin Rogers (knee), FB Deon Anderson (knee) and DE Marcus Dixon (groin) aren’t expected to play against San Francisco.

Penalties, when is it going to stop!08/23/2009

Ok, we now have 13 penalities for 113 yards, when is that going to stop?

Also, when are timouts going to be used wisely?

Wade used 2 unwisely last 2 games, That can come to bite you in a game to a loss.

We still need a punt returner too, along with working more on special teams. Hurd has now had 2, count them 2 penalities on special teams.

Marcus Dixon leg injury08/19/2009

DC.COM Blog: Marcus Dixon Suffers Right Leg Injury…*suffers strained groin*

Marcus Dixon Suffers Right Leg Injury

Still hard to tell what exactly was injured or how severely, but defensive end Marcus Dixon just made his way to the locker room with head trainer Jim Maurer.

Dixon, who spent last season on the practice squad, had been fighting for a job as a backup in the Cowboys’ 3-4 front. Coaches had mentioned his name as one of the most improved players of the off-season after he transformed his body, slimming down to a more athletic shape.

With the offense and defense running an 11-on-11 drill near the goal line, Dixon went down and remained on his stomach. He moved gingerly off the field with help from Maurer and a member of the team’s equipment staff.

The 24-year-old had been running as the third-team left end.

Sunday Mornings practice 8-16th, Wade vows more testing of players, All I can say, its about time!08/16/2009

Sunday Mornings practice 8-16th!

The Cowboys hit the practice field this morning in helemts and shoulder pads. This is the first of two for the day. Coach Wade Phillips has been disappointed in his club’s mental approach the last few days and has vowed more testing of his players.
All I can say is, its about time!

10:25:08 am Cowboys K Buehler was singled out for his aggressiveness on kickoff coverage by owner Jerry Jones. This morning, Buehler is working as a blocker on the kickoff return.

10:50:08 am Starting CBs newman groin and Jenkins (ankle) could be back to practice next week. Both are doing full speed competitive sprints with the strength coach and look very fit in the process.

There is a noticeable up tempo in the Cowboys 9-on-7 drill today. The first OL really has taken to the defense’s front seven. OGs Kosier and Davis have been very physical at the point of attack.
“11:18:45 am Cowboys CB Courtney Brown”continues to struggle in his coverage. It doesn’t matter which WR he faces, he struggles to sustain contact in the route and be in any type of position to make a play on the ball. “11:17:52 am Working on a third-down drill, both Cowboys OL’s have done an excellent job in blitz pick up. That has allowed QBs Romo and Kitna plenty of time to scan the field and hit WRs on the move. 11:04:58 am Cowboys rookie LBs Jason Williams and Victor Butler look much better in the 9-on-7 drill getting off blocks and playing with their hands than they did in the Oakland game.

Every time Cowboys RB Felix Jones”has lined up or motioned to the outside as a WR, coach Wade Phillips has played with a linebacker over the top of him in coverage. Jones’ speed is way too much for a LB to have to cover in space. 11:30:07 am There really is nothing pretty about the way that Cowboys Sam Hurd WR runs routes but in this camp, he has been the most consistent and reliable WR that the club has down after down.
