Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook is expected to play Sunday vs the Dallas Cowboys, coach Andy Reid said on a conference call with reporters Wednesday.
Westbrook missed last week’s game against the New York Giants with a concussion.
In his place was running back LeSean McCoy, who earned his third start of the season.
“Brian’s OK,” Reid said. “He’ll practice today, no symptoms. He should be fine.”
In his career, Westbrook has averaged 4.1 yards per carry against the Cowboys with seven touchdowns.
Using multiple running backs has been a key to success for several NFL teams, including the Eagles. McCoy and Westbrook have scored a combined three touchdowns this season, but are averaging more than 4.5 yards per carry.
“We always had the three guys back there. It’s a good situation to have,” Reid said. “They all want the ball more. But at the same time, over the duration of a year in the NFL, it helps all of them. … So we’ve rotated them just like the Cowboys have rotated them.”
